Getting Ready

Traveling to Ethiopia is not simple matter. For one, there's the shots. Last summer I got six for my first trip. The girls fared a little better this time because of their normal vaccinations. Nonetheless neither of them was fond of the shots they got a few weeks ago. Secondly, there's the matter of getting there. Our best option is a flight from Chicago to London, followed by a flight from London through Damascus to Addis Ababa. That itinerary takes a full 10 hours less than other alternatives. On the downside, we'll be getting into Addis at 2:30 AM and taking a 6:30 AM flight out to Mekele. We then have a full schedule in and around Mekele before we hit the hotel that evening. My math says we'll have about 48 hours without a bed. If we survive that in good spirits I think we'll be good.

Hi Shawn. When do you leave for Ethiopia? Who is going? How long will you be there? What is the itinerary? What is the target audience for this blog? Who do you think would benefit from reading it?
